SUSTAINABILITY

Sustainability is a fundamental part of all of Rachel Emily’s designs. Her dissertation explored Emotional Durability and how to design clothes which customers will keep for a long time in order to reduce waste. Her BA final collection built on what was learnt through dissertation research and used colour psychology to create designs that would produce a positive emotion in the wearer creating emotional durability and encouraging them to keep their clothes longer. Rachel Emily's MA project explored how to design sustainable clothes which appeal to the current consumer. It aimed to create a sustainable collection which is also visually exciting, as she often finds that sustainable garments lack the fun of fast fashion so are not appealing to the current consumer. She is focused on the post-covid consumer and designed a collection of elevated loungewear which meets their desires to be both comfortable and fashionable.
